No Vice Ice are looking for a Trainee and Production manager

As we enter our second year of production we are looking to develop our programme to support people living with invisible health conditions into work. ​The trainee manager will work to develop No Vice Ice’s ice lolly production as a training opportunity for people living with invisible health conditions.  We are in the early stages of developing routes into employment for people with invisible health conditions and are looking to appoint a trainee manager who will develop the programme (with directors support), with a view to launching it this Spring/Summer. The postholder will then work alongside trainees to produce ice lollies. The role is a mix of production work in the kitchen making lollies, and a support role enabling and training the trainees. 

The postholer will work with the other NVI contractor and the directors to strategically develop the organisation as we enter our second year of trading.

 In particular the post holder will be lead on and be responsible for: 

  • Developing partnerships with charities/organisations in Oxford that support people into employment. 

  • Identifying possible trainee applicants

  • Developing our “inclusive workplace” approach. 

  • Working alongside trainees in the kitchen making ice lollies

  • Producing ice lollies in the absence of trainees. 

 

Person specification:

Essential

  • Very organised, patient, flexible. 

  • Experience working with volunteers or trainees or adult learners 

  • Experience working in partnership with other organisation. 

  • Interest and understanding of invisible health conditions

  • Commitment to inclusion, equality and reducing our environmental impact. 

 

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering into employment training programmes

  • Experience working with people with invisible health conditions 

  • Food production experience

No Vice Ice are looking for new Directors to join our team.

We believe all communities should have the right to access affordable, sustainable and healthy foods, that are suitable for their individual health needs. We also believe that someone invisible health condition should not remain a barrier to work for ever. We (still) don't claim to have the answers about how this can be achieved but we do believe we can help in the following  ways:

  • Making ice lollies! Since 2021 we have been producing healthy ice lollies from our base at Florence Park, Oxford. We believe the only way to work in the 21st Century is by having as low an environmental footprint as possible, so all our lollys are made using local, mostly surplus, fruit. Our ambition is to make lollies suitable for people on different diets to manage their health- e.g a low sugar diet.

  • Lolly Labs! Offering interactive ice lollies making workshops which will empower people to explore the links between health, sustainability and food which are fun, supportive and inclusive for all. For more information visit our Lolly Labs page here.

  • Supporting people who are out of work due to their invisible health condition, by providing traineeships and jobs. We create working environments that are suitable for people who are managing a health condition and aim to be as inclusive and flexible and possible to accommodate this.

 

We are looking for new directors to join us as we develop NoViceIce. Could it be you?

The board of directors are responsible for the Community Interest Company (CIC) and manage its affairs. It is the role of the directors to:

  • Maintain overview and responsibility of the affairs of the company- that is making sure we achieve our social mission to support people with invisible health conditions and have the finances to do it.

  • Support staff to manage the day-to-day running of the company

  • Report to Companies House on a yearly basis

Being on the board is mostly a voluntary role, but there are opportunities to be paid as well on a freelance basis. We anticipate that new directors will be able to take on some freelance paid work.  

We are looking for people who:

 

Either:

  • Have lived experience of an invisible health condition. Our board of directors already has some members who have lived experience, but we would like to appoint at least one further director with lived experience. You may still be managing your health condition, or it may be in the past.

Or

  • Have experience (and interest!) in business development or managing a food business or logistics/supply chain management. We are at an early stage in our development, having been trading for only 1 year and so are interested in appointing directors who have professional experience in business management or in working in the food industry.
